SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS

Dear Parent/Guardian: 

Please follow the link to view the school immunization requirements set forth by the Texas Department of Health. These are the minimum health requirements we are asked to follow, and have documented in your child's health file. If your child has not met these requirements, your registration for the school year 2002-03 will be considered incomplete. Your child will not be permitted in school until these requirements are met.

Please make special notice of the following: 

ü      Hepatitis B Vaccine is required by age 5, for children born after 9-2-92 

ü      Hepatitis B Vaccine is required by the 12th birthday for children born on or after 9-2-88 but

            before 9-2-92 

ü      2nd MMR is required by the child's 12th birthday for children born prior to 9-2-91 

ü      If your child has not had the chickenpox:

Ø     Varicella vaccine is required after 1st birthday for children born on or after 9-2-94

Ø     Varicella vaccine is required by the 12th birthday for children born between 9-2-88 and 9-1-94

ü      If your child has had the chickenpox, all that is required is validated history of the disease by either the parent or physician 

ü      Effective 8-1-03, children born on or after 9-2-92, attending school in Bexar county will be required to have 2 doses of Hepatitis A vaccine administered on or after their 2nd birthday 

Although some immunizations are not required until the 12th birthday, children do not have to wait until that time to receive these. Please be aware that it is in the best interest of the children to be immunized against these vaccine preventable diseases. I hope you will take advantage of the summer break to visit your child's physician or a local immunization clinic to have your child receive his/her immunizations. A copy of the immunizations received must be sent to the school office to be placed in your child's health file.
